As a Social Practice Artist and Educator, Midori sparks innovation and collaboration through workshops and projects. Deeply valuing cultural diversity, she facilitates spaces where creativity leads to meaningful connections. As a bilingual and bicultural communicator, she engages diverse audiences, fostering shared experiences that celebrate our global community.
Midori was raised in Okhotsk at the northern edge of Japan, near Russia, on land originally inhabited by the Ainu people. As a child, Midori witnessed the sea freeze over in winter, transforming into temporary land, and for her, spring was not about blooming flowers but melting snow. This unique environment shaped her sensitivity and outsider’s viewpoint from a young age. At seven, she began studying calligraphy and later pursued visual communication in the U.S. with limited English. Midori has worked as a graphic designer and creative director, engaging in branding projects globally and exploring communication strategies. Her involvement in local activities and social practices has deepened her focus on cultural exchange, enhancing community ties, and facilitating individual communication.
